I have a confession.....

I have a confession to make....

I went on the internet and fell in love.

Not just any kind of love...it's the drooling, sappy, can't-get-over-you kind of love.

He makes me giddy like a schoolgirl.

I think about him a lot.

I can't wait to see him.

My husband knows.

He understands.

So...

His name is Craig. Last name List.

Wait til you see what he's given me.....you're gonna drool too!

The beginning of Xander's Room Makeover.....

Last year we decided to move the girls out of the small bedroom and put them in the biggest bedroom which was being used as the playroom. It was a big undertaking, which resulted in 15 contractor bags being taken to the thrift store. Amazingly enough, no one has missed any of the toys!
So, Xander got the girls' room. We painted over the Laura Ashley Pink and made it into a nice desert sand color and then moved his stuff in and pretty much got busy and left it! It has been a long, hard road trying to get this house organized and decorated. Now that I have more energy and desire again, it is fun to think of things to do to the house. Nevertheless, his room has been window-treatment-less for months!!!!
So! My friend, Tammy, redid her sons room in navy, lime green and orange and gave me the extra Pottery Barn panel she bought for the room. She is amazing! She is literally one of the most talented people I know!
Xander already had a lime green butterfly chair and ottoman, so I took it and decided to make a valance for him.
Here's the window before.....
Then, my neighbor, Lawrence, gave me a cornice he made for his son's room. They decided they didn't like it and asked me if I wanted it...uh, yes! He is amazing at home improvement. I wish I had, in my whole body, half the talent he has in his little finger!

The end of the cornice broke, so I took wood glue and glued back together again.

So, I guess I could have gone out and bought a pattern on how to make a pleated curtain, but I am too cheap! So, I figured it out and did it myself! I decided to hang it with velcro on the inside of the cornice....as you can see, I made a huge mess while I was creating!
It was actually a lot easier than I thought! I just made 6 ten inch squares of both fabrics and sewed them together and then brought them together at the top and sewed double fold bias tape to hold it all together. The hard part was the lack of fabric. It was only one panel and I wanted to make a pillow too, so I had to be very careful about where I cut!
TADAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
It made his blah, boring room so much better! I was excited, because I had enough fabric left over to make a pillow for his bed.
Before.....
After!
The best part of the whole project is that it was almost free! The only thing I bought were the brackets to hang the cornice board and the paint, which I will use in the rest of the room.
Stay tuned for the rest of the makeover!

Savannah's Birthday

Summer seems like a long time ago with all the snow we have had. I was going through pictures and thought I would post these of her birthday. I need to have a picture of the invitation also. I used the lamb theme, since my mom calls all her grandchildren her "little lambs." Here's the cute one year old after everyone made their own pizza....

The treat boxes...

The table...
The cupcakes for the kids...

And the cake for the birthday girl!
It was a darling cake, but a one year old can make quick work of all of that!!

Random Organization.....

I am afraid these first couple of posts are going to random and a little unorganized....only because I am trying to find pictures of things I made and get them on the blog to be able to eventually make some assemblence of order.
For instance, the Happy Birthday banner I made for Eleanor's 4th birthday party...

The mouse costume I made for Xander 10 years ago and Savannah wore it this year after going through several cousins....
And we cannot forget the tutu the princess, Eleanor, wore for Halloween this year...
Eventually I should be able to find the business I started with some friends, "The Last Word" and find all the cute pictures we took of our open houses that we did.
For now, at least, I am in the mode to organize and figure out where everything is. I will have to post some pictures of the beginnings of Xander's room redo. Craig's list and I are B.E.S.T. friends and his room is going to be so much better than it is right now!!!

It's been a L.O.N.G. time.....

I started this blog to input creative ideas and organize my thoughts.....as you can tell, all these thoughts and ideas are STILL running through my head and not in this blog. Since we have been in a major east coast snow storm for the last few days/weeks, I have discovered the world of blogging....uh,oh!
I happened upon one blog and then found 300! There are some seriously creative and amazing people out there...and they blog about it! Just like what I wanted to do almost 6 months ago when I created this blog. So now, all of you awesome bloggers have inspired me to get my act together and blog about what I've made and what I've done and what I love.
How many millions of crafts have I made and not taken a picture!?!?? Well, I will try and start today and be more diligent. I will put my thoughts on the computer and post pictures. It will help me be more organized and let my creative juices flow.
I am amazed at some who blog almost daily! Wow! I can't promise that...four children, two home businesses and daily life happenings....I have to prioritize.
Anyway, I need not ramble. I am excited. I am going to follow the dream I started almost six months ago. Yippppeeee! Here I go!

My little Sister ROCKS!

My little sister Eliza had an ugly cement wall in her downstairs area where her playroom/laundry room was. She decided to paint a mural on it and it turned out AMAZING! She is so talented! Three children and one on the way and she had time to paint! She totally rocks! I am having uploading issues so the pictures will have to come later, but I just wanted everyone to know she is my super woman inspiration!!!!
